About The Event
After the peak of summer and external activity, the height of our "Yang" phase, it's time to move slower and turn "Yin"wards, as we let go of summer and transition into fall. In Chinese medicine, autumn is the season of the element Metal (or air) within the 5 element theory and is associated with the organs of the Colon and the Lungs. The Colon has the function of eliminating, clearing out toxins - not only on a physical level but also mentally and spiritually and assists us in "letting go" of what is unnecessary, like taking out the garbage! The Lungs are responsible for helping us "take in the pure", like a breath of the cool, crisp autumn air. In Chinese medicine the Lung(s) are also referred to as "the receiver of the pure Chi from the heavens", we receive inspiration on the breath. These organs work together as a perfect team, taking in and letting go.
For this Yin style specialty class we will be addressing these specific organs through longer held stretches and shapes, opening the ribcage and chest and settling into gentle twists. An ideal practice to release accumulated tension in both the body and mind. Beneficial to all levels of practitioners.
I hope you can join me!
NOTE: if you can not make it at this time a recording will be available for you.
